ARCH 416: Creative Industries Micro-manufacturing Facility
This studio builds on recommendations from Hawaiʻi’s Creative Innovation Group to explore a Creative Industries Micro-manufacturing Facility (CIMMF) that supports the state’s fashion, music, and creative industries. In partnership with the Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism (DBEDT), students engage stakeholders to envision a facility that strengthens pathways from education to creative careers and supports emerging businesses from early-stage development through commercialization.
The proposed 50,000 SF facility integrates spaces for production, fabrication, equipment, shipping and receiving, collaboration, education, events, retail, recording, rehearsal, and other industry-specific needs. The studio considers how shared infrastructure can foster innovation, entrepreneurship, cultural expression, and economic opportunity in Hawaiʻi.
