ARCH 490 Game On!
Game-based learning is an active learning technique that uses games to improve student learning. Games simulate real world scenarios, cultivate role-playing, critical thinking, and problem-solving, all skills that are transferable to the environmental design professions. The benefits of learning through play include: increased engagement; improved critical thinking; better problem-solving; improved memory, attention, and concentration; enhanced creativity, better language skills, personalized learning, inclusivity (level playing field), and situational learning.
This ARCH 490 course partners with the City and County of Honolulu Office of Climate Change Sustainability and Resiliency and their Climate Champions program, to offer educational games that engage stakeholder and players around the issues facing our islands.
